The section entitled Hemorrhoid Description
and Causes points out some of the more obvious causes of hemorrhoids (and at least one hemorrhoid cure).
Taking diet and lifestyle into account, here are a number of other risk factors that may be
lurking:
Excessive consumption of ice, cold drinks or raw food
Sitting on cold, hard surfaces for prolonged periods
Heavy aerobic exercise
Excessive stress and worry
High sugar diet
Excessive alcohol consumption
Even though hemorrhoids are inflamed, they are "in essence" cold and dry. In Ayurveda, the centuries-old
system of natural healing from India, conditions of cold/dryness need to be countered with warm/oiliness.
If a "watery" condition exists, such as too much mucous in the body, "dryness" therapy is prescribed. A good example
would be taking cayenne pepper, as it is "hot and dry".
With hemorrhoids being cold and dry in nature, can you see why constantly consuming ice, icy drinks,
smoothies, etc., will act as a risk factor in the appearance of hemorrhoids?
The same principle applies with regard to cold, hard surfaces. Frequent "cold upon cold" will eventually
lead to problems.
It would be easy to say, "stop worrying, and your hemorrhoids will improve". It's practically impossible
to stop worrying; just know it is quite possibly harming you more. Isn't is interesting how much unnecessary
worrying we do? We see in retrospect, the situation worked itself out anyway. You could have relaxed your mind
all that time!
Sugar and alcohol can be lumped together, as sugar is used in the fermentation process. Refined sugar
causes inflammation. Hemorrhoids are inflamed rectal/venous tissue. You would be amazed how much your
hemorrhoids improve on their own with this one thing - the elimination of sugar in your diet.
